10 Best Places to Elope in England
Whether you’re exploring the cobblestone streets of London or venturing out to the mountains, England offers incredible historical and natural wonders. You can spend your elopement in the UK on the coast or in the mountains, and end the night at a local pub. If you’re ready to elope, here are the 10 best places to elope in England!
1) Durdle Door
On the Jurassic Coast of Dorset you may not meet any dinosaurs, but you will find one of the most iconic views in the United Kingdom. The huge rock arch towers over the beach, creating a picture perfect view over the water.
Whether you spend your elopement day running barefoot, having a picnic, or swimming in the chilly water, Durdle Door is one of the best places to elope in England, and an amazing backdrop for your ceremony!
2) Cheddar Gorge
Did you know that in England, you can find cliffs upto 450 feet high? The Cheddar Gorge is the largest gorge in the United Kingdom, and if you climb to the top, you’ll be met with sweeping views of the valley below. If you aren’t into heights, you can even venture underground and explore the caves!
3) The Needles
The Needles are one of the best places to elope in England, and this picturesque spot located on the western tip of the Isle of Wight is guaranteed to leave you speechless. Three white, rocky towers peek out over the sea, creating a picture perfect scene amongst the never ending blue of the ocean. You can see The Needles from the sea, or hop on a chairlift for a birds eye view!
4) Gaping Gill
Gaping Gill is an awe inspiring cave, and allows you to descend 100 meters to see the rays of sunlight flood the cold yet beautiful cavern. You will need a guide to visit Gaping Gill, as the descent must be made with a winch! Exploring a cave is an incredibly unique way to celebrate your elopement day, and an experience you’ll never forget – making Gaping Gill an amazing place to elope in England.
5) Seven Sisters
The chalk cliffs that make up the Seven Sisters are one of the most unspoiled, idyllic places to elope in England. The natural erosion has left the cliffs a dazzling white color, and contrasting with the blue sea, the Seven Sisters provide beautiful views along England’s coastline, perfect for an elopement ceremony.
Avoid the stress, family drama and financial chaos that comes with traditional weddings. Surrender to a “just us” adventure elopement instead.

6) Scafell Pike
Scafell Pike is England’s tallest mountain! There are three challenging routes that you can climb to reach the summit, but your efforts will be rewarded with sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and lush green hills that roll into the distance.
7) Winnats Pass
The valley of Winnats Pass is surrounded by limestone cliffs on each side, and offers an idyllic drive through the bottom of the valley. The single winding road branches off into countless footpaths, where you can explore on your elopement day and find the perfect place to say your vows, whether it’s on top of the cliffs or down in the valley!
8) The Lake District
The Lake District is aptly named for the sixteen lakes contained in the park. On the northwest coast of the country, you’ll have your choice of places to explore – from the popular Windermere lake, to more remote and quiet places such as Ullswater Lake.
9) Farne Islands
Off of the Northumberland coastline are the Farne Islands, which are completely uninhabited! This is one of the most remote spots in the UK, and these tiny islands are the best place to elope in England if you want stunning views of the ocean and the coastline, along with the chance to spot puffins, seals, and sometimes whales!
10) High Force
High Force is a waterfall nestled amongst the rolling green hills of the English countryside. The rushing waterfall cascades down a rocky wall, surrounded by lush greenery. High Force is named for the high volumes of water that create this waterfall, and if you’re lucky, there is occasionally a second waterfall that forms next to High Force on the rocky cliff.
