What is an elopement?

Before we delve into how to plan your elopement in the Seychelles, let’s make sure we’re on the same page. Eloping has evolved considerably in recent years, and it’s no longer about hasty ceremonies, rushed weddings, or clandestine nuptials. Nowadays, eloping is all about making sure that every aspect of your wedding day is truly your own. Your special day should be a reflection of your personalities, and choosing to elope instead of following the traditional wedding blueprint allows you to focus on what truly matters to you as a couple and to celebrate your marriage in a way that’s completely unique and meaningful to you.

How to legally elope in the Seychelles

How to Legally Elope in Seychelles

While there are no specific requirements for your Seychelles romantic getaway, you must be prepared beforehand. In other words, ensure you have all the necessary documents before leaving for your destination. The following forms and papers will be required from you for civil marriage:

  • Valid passport
  • Birth certificate
  • Registration form
  • Passport copies of both parties

All the documents you provide for civil marriage need to be authenticated and apostatized. Moreover, it is important to point out if you or your partner are divorced or widowed, in which case proof certificates should be provided.

You must submit your documents eight weeks before you leave for Seychelles. It is easier to prepare the papers beforehand because you will need to make other arrangements for the elopement. Also, couples who intend to elope to this destination must travel with original documents.

A Registrar conducts all ceremonies for civil marriages in accordance with the laws of Seychelles. They are usually held during working days, excluding public holidays. In addition, everyone who intends to get married here must be a hotel resident for at least two days before the ceremony.

For couples from the US:

In certain states, you can ask your county clerk the authorization to sign your wedding license abroad. If they agree, as a registered minister, my team and I will be able to legally marry you without the hassle of a legal wedding ceremony in the Seychelles.

When to elope in the Seychelles

When to Elope in Seychelles

WINTER IN SEYCHELLES

Winter months are considered a rainy season in Seychelles, and this is when the humidity level rises. However, the rain rarely stops visitors from coming to this heavenly place. Therefore, Christmas elopements are quite frequent.

SPRING IN SEYCHELLES

This is the ideal time to elope to this location. The weather becomes warm and dry, and rainfalls are not as common. Moreover, flight tickets are not as expensive as they are in summer, which makes it yet another reason why spring should be the perfect season for your romantic getaway.

SUMMER IN SEYCHELLES

The weather around summer gets cool and dry, making it lovely and pleasant for getting married on the beach. However, it is also the year’s busiest season, so making arrangements in advance is crucial.

FALL IN SEYCHELLES

It is a significantly dry season accompanied by occasional showers. The fall weather is warm and quiet since the summer holidays are over. It is delightful for couples who want intimate elopement followed by a romantic honeymoon in Seychelles.

Example budget of an elopement in Seychelles

When it comes to elopement budgets, I understand the challenges of providing a precise estimate for vendors outside of my own expertise. The cost can greatly vary depending on your chosen destination and the quality of vendors you desire.

Elopement expenses are significantly influenced by factors like your chosen location. Rather than providing generic budget estimates for vendors I don’t work with, I recommend exploring my elopement packages. They include all-inclusive options, giving you a clearer view of your budget and costs.

What to wear for your elopement in Seychelles

What to Wear to Elope in Seychelles

Considering you are about to embark on an eloping adventure on a tropical island, you should take into account that the weather is slightly different from what you are accustomed to. As your Seychelles elopement photographer, I suggest you plan your elopement clothing according to the climate. You would not want to spoil your romantic union due to improper attire.

The Dress

Since the temperatures in Seychelles tend to be warm and dry, I suggest you pick a dress made of lighter materials. Wear something that is not body-hugging and thick. There are light and breezy materials that will give you a pleasant feel while also allowing you to look classy and fabulous.

The Shoes

Eloping in Seychelles usually means tying the knot on one of the island’s magnificent beaches. Therefore, consider wearing sandals rather than high heels in order to feel more comfortable. I suggest going barefoot if you want to match the beachy surroundings of your elopement.

The Suit

Getting married in Seychelles means wearing a more casual outfit. Therefore, a suit is not mandatory, but if you want a classy vibe, pick a lighter suit and avoid layers. On the other hand, you can also opt for pants and a lighter button-up shirt.
