When to Elope in the Lofoten Islands
The weather is pretty dramatic in the Lofoten Islands, so when you plan your wedding, think about seasons before you set a date!
WINTER
Winter is when most people stay away – it’s very cold, and the nights are nearly 24 hours long. However, this is definitely the best time to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights, and the time when you’ll see the least visitors around!
SPRING
In March, it’s still dark nearly all day, but the islands start to warm up and visitors come to see the Northern Lights. The coastal climate means it rarely snows on the islands, so if you bring lots of layers, spring can be a good time to elope – by the end of the spring it gets warmer and brighter, though the weather can be unpredictable.
SUMMER
For most couples, summer is going to be the best time to elope in the Lofoten Islands. It’s warm and sunny, and the sun doesn’t set from late May to mid July, which gives you extra time to explore! This is the perfect time for outdoor adventures.
FALL
Late summer and fall tend to be pretty rainy, but this can be a good time to elope after the summer crowds have gone home! You’ll get warm weather in the beginning of fall, but temperatures start to drop quickly at the end of October.
