Welcome to the Adventure of a Lifetime

amber, elopement photographer

Hey there, I’m Amber! I’m your elopement photographer and planner – your one-stop-shop for absolutely everything you need for a magical, incredible elopement day.

I offer all-inclusive elopement packages for couples who want to relax and let me handle absolutely everything, as well as options for couples who like a little bit of DIY! I’ll find the perfect place for you to exchange vows, recommend vendors, help you figure out travel and lodging, make a timeline, and more – personalizing each part of your elopement day to perfectly suit the two of you. And of course, I’ll be there to take the photos and document this once in a lifetime adventure.
You aren’t like every other couple, and your wedding day shouldn’t be either! I’ll help you craft a day that’s true to you, authentic, and real, allowing you to immerse yourselves in the experience as you say your “I dos.”

First, let’s be sure we’re talking about the same thing:

What is an elopement?

What comes to mind when you think of the word “elopement?” If it’s courthouses and rushed ceremonies, you’re working with an outdated definition! But, so are a lot of people, which is why I’m so passionate about adventure elopements – because eloping is about reclaiming your wedding day. It’s about making sure you spend the day doing what feels right to you, not anyone else. Nothing’s off limits – from long backpacking trips to relaxing vacations, and your elopement can be anything you want it to be!

How to legally elope in Denmark

How to Legally Elope in Denmark

In order to elope to Denmark, you’ll need to take care of some paperwork ahead of time. You’ll need to apply and send a notice of marriage to the Agency of Family Law in Denmark. The application can be found here, and you will pay an application fee of 1650 kroner ($270 USD).

With your application, you will also need to send photocopies of your passport (or ID card, if you’re a citizen of the EU), and documentation of your right to enter into Denmark. This may be proof of residence if you reside in the country, or a tourist visa if you’re traveling internationally. Once your application is accepted, you’ll receive a marriage certificate, which is valid for 4 months!

For couples from the US:

In certain states, you can ask your county clerk the authorization to sign your wedding license abroad. If they agree, as a registered minister, my team and I will be able to legally marry you without the hassle of a legal wedding ceremony in Denmark.

Why Elope in Denmark?

Hygee

Hygee, pronounced “hoo-guh,” is a unique concept that Denmark locals abide by. It means finding comfortable, cozy moments in your daily routine, and appreciating them. And while elopements are a huge adventure and your wedding day is certainly not routine, the little moments of hygee are what it’s all about! Appreciating the small, in between things that make you fall in love every day.

Gorgeous Landscapes

Denmark has miles and miles of white sand beaches, along with incredible old growth forests that will make you feel like you stepped into a storybook. With countless amazing backdrops, Denmark is the perfect location for an adventure elopement.

Delicious Food

The classic Scandanavian favorites are locally sourced in Denmark, providing fresh meat and seafood for world-famous restaurants. Denmark is also known for its local beers, and a visit to an outdoor brewery is the perfect way to relax at the end of an elopement day!

Where to Elope in Denmark

Everywhere you look, the scenery in Denmark will take your breath away. Whether you want to elope on the beach or in the forest, there’s a place for you!

Where to elope in Denmark - Mons Klint

Møns Klint

This is one of the most famous places in Denmark, and when you catch a glimpse of the towering white cliffs, it’s easy to see why! There are many rare species of flora and fauna lining the cliffs, and you can walk along the ridge or take the stairs down to the water, where you’ll be able to hunt for fossils.

Råbjerg Mile

In this unique landscape, dunes as high as 40 meters tall form a small desert. Rådjberg Mile is a unique place to elope in Denmark, and one of the largest migrating dunes in all of Europe, moving northeast little by little each year.

Rold Forest

The moss covered floor, towering trees, and lush greenery make the Rold Forest the perfect elopement location. If you’ve ever wanted to feel like a woodland fairy, or maybe a woodland hobbit, this is the perfect spot! You can spend hours exploring the woods and have so much left to see, but hiking through as the sun rays pour through the branches is nothing short of incredible.

South Fyn Archipelago

The islands in South Fyn Archipelago each contain their own adventures, and each one is an amazing place to elope if you want a peaceful ceremony by the sea. The cozy villages are perfect for wandering around, and you’ll find amazing places to stay by the quaint harbors.

These rolling green hills offer incredible views of Denmark, and the winding roads and tiny, wooden houses add to the charm of Svanninge. You’ll have stunning views to the west and south, and a sunrise or sunset ceremony here would be especially rewarding!

When to elope in Denmark

When to Elope in Denmark

Denmark’s weather is temperate, without major fluctuations throughout the day. Summer is the best time to visit, though other seasons may offer less crowding!

WINTER

Winters in Denmark are chilly, dipping down to just above freezing. The days are shorter, and if you elope in winter you will need to pack warm clothes! However, winter offers more opportunities to spot the northern lights in Denmark.

SPRING

By spring, temperatures rise to an average of 50 degrees F (10 degrees C) during the day, making spring a much warmer time to elope to Denmark. Spring is one of the driest seasons, and much less popular than summer.

SUMMER

Summers in Denmark rarely get too hot, and temperatures are usually around 70 degrees F (22 degrees C). Summer is the perfect time to elope on the beaches of Denmark, and to enjoy the outdoor dining and breweries that the country has to offer.

FALL

Temperatures drop quickly in the fall, and it rains often. If you elope to Denmark in the fall, be sure to pack some waterproof boots and a rain jacket!

What to wear for an elopement in Denmark - the shoes

What To Wear When Eloping In Denmark

To elope in Denmark, you’ll need to wear wedding attire that works for an elopement! This means something you can walk, climb, and adventure in.

The Dress

Layers are perfect for your elopement in Denmark, as it can get windy! Capes and shawls add a dramatic, regal flair to a wedding dress, and look amazing blowing in the wind. I recommend avoiding tight dresses, such as mermaid style cuts, and opt for something with a loose skirt so that you can comfortably move around throughout the day!

The Shoes

For an adventure elopement, hiking boots are best – unless you’re eloping on the beach, in which case I recommend sandals or even no shoes at all! No matter what, make sure to break in your shoes before the elopement day – there’s nothing worse than blisters!

The Suit

For elopement suits, I recommend choosing something that can easily be layered! A jacket that you can take off if it gets warm and out on when it gets cold is perfect for Denmark’s climate. Make sure the suit fits you well and lets you move comfortably!
