Elope in Spain.
Your way.
From the desert of Navarre to the cliffs of Asturias — a 13-year guide to Spain’s most extraordinary places to say “I do.”
Amber — Founder, Zephyr & Luna
I don’t just photograph Spain.
I know Spain.
I’m Amber. For 13 years, I’ve been building Zephyr & Luna into something I couldn’t find anywhere else: a completely integrated elopement service that handles photography, planning, guiding, vendor curation, logistics, and on-the-ground expertise — all in one person, all without a single template.
Spain is one of the destinations I return to most. I’ve photographed elopements in the green hills of Asturias, on the stone arches of Las Catedrales beach in Galicia, in the lunar desert of Bardenas Reales, and in the cobbled alleyways of Seville. I’ve chased golden light through Mallorca caves. I’ve stood in vineyards in La Rioja as couples toasted each other with wine straight from the barrel.
Before turning full-time to elopements, I worked as a certified travel agent (including in Quebec and France), a group tour guide across 35 American states, and in hotel business development. I hold a Bac+3 in Photography from École de Condé, Nancy, and a BTS in Tourism. I speak English natively and work with couples from all over the world.
I’ve been published in Cosmopolitan, the Ritz Herald, Luxury Travel Magazine, and Junebug Weddings. I’m a US-ordained minister, meaning I can legally marry you if you’re from a US state that allows it.
What I offer isn’t just photos. It’s the whole day — researched, planned, guided, and documented — so you can be fully present without a single logistical thought in your head.
The case for eloping here,
from someone who keeps coming back
Stunning Scenery, Radically Diverse
Spain isn’t one landscape — it’s dozens. A lunar desert in Navarre. Glacier lakes in Asturias. Stone cathedral arches carved by the Atlantic. Green rolling hills that rival Switzerland. Sun-scorched Andalusian villages. Pyrenean peaks. Mediterranean coves. You can design an elopement that looks like nowhere else on earth.
Deep Culture, Real Romance
Spain doesn’t perform romance for tourists. Flamenco was born here. So was the siesta, the long lunch, the idea that the best things in life are unhurried. When you elope in Spain, you step into a culture that takes celebration seriously — where a wedding, even an intimate one, is an occasion to linger, eat well, and feel alive.
Legally Accessible & LGBTQ+ Welcoming
Spain legalized same-sex marriage in 2005, one of the first countries in the world to do so. All couples are welcome, all identities respected. The country’s warm legal framework makes it easy for international couples to marry here or to celebrate a symbolic ceremony without bureaucratic headaches.
Spain’s most extraordinary
elopement locations
I’ll never publish exact coordinates — Leave No Trace is a value, not a tagline. But I’ll tell you what each place feels like, so you can choose with your gut.
Every corner of Spain
has its own personality
Bardenas Reales
Southeast of Pamplona in Navarre, this semi-desert is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve carved by wind and water over thousands of years. The iconic Cabezo de Castildetierra formation draws visitors worldwide. Best visited in spring (wildflowers) or fall (golden light). I recommend arriving at sunrise for completely empty landscapes. Permits may be required for specific areas.
Cuevas del Drach, Mallorca
Four interconnected caves on the island of Mallorca, formed by seawater filtration over millennia. You can take a small boat across the underground Lake Martel, one of the world’s largest underground lakes. Classical music performances happen by candlelight on the water. Completely otherworldly. This is the kind of place that only I can turn into an elopement backdrop.
Lagos de Covadonga
In the Cantabrian Mountains within Picos de Europa National Park, these glacial lakes sit above 1,000m altitude. Lake Enol and Lake Ercina are the main two — mirror-still waters reflecting limestone peaks, with Asturian cows grazing freely around them. Access by vehicle is restricted in summer; plan your visit with me to avoid the crowds entirely.
Playa de las Catedrales
In Ribadeo, Galicia, this beach is accessible only at low tide — which means timing your ceremony requires experience and local knowledge. The stone arches reach 30m high. The swell and spray when the tide rolls in is something you will never forget. I keep a tide table for every month and have photographed elopements here in conditions that other photographers simply wouldn’t attempt.
Parque Natural de Somiedo
Deep in the Cantabrian Mountains, this protected park is home to brown bears, wolves, and golden eagles — and some of the most unspoiled glacial valley scenery in Spain. Braña huts (traditional stone shepherds’ dwellings) dot the high meadows. Trails range from easy valley walks to serious mountain ascents. I’ll plan your route based on your fitness level and vision.
Seville & White Villages
Seville is flamenco country — passionate, warm, architectural. The Real Alcázar gardens are unlike anything in Europe. But the real gems are the pueblos blancos: whitewashed hilltop villages like Ronda, Arcos de la Frontera, or Zahara de la Sierra, where bougainvillea spills from every window and the light at golden hour is indescribable. Best in spring or fall; summer heat is intense.
Spain is a year-round destination.
But every season is different.
Winter
The south stays mild and sunny. The Pyrenees offer ski elopements. Crowds are non-existent in most regions. If seclusion is your priority, this is your season.
Spring
My personal favourite for most regions. Wildflowers in Bardenas Reales. Green hills in Asturias. Warm south, pleasant north. Not yet hot. Perfect for long days of adventure.
Summer
Peak season everywhere. Best for beaches, islands, and high-altitude hikes. Southern interiors can hit 40°C+. I always schedule ceremonies at golden hour or sunrise to avoid the heat.
Fall
La Rioja harvest season. Autumn foliage in the mountains. Cooler temperatures everywhere. Rain in the north from October. Beautiful colours and the best light of the year.
Heat & climate note for 2026–2027
In recent years, extreme heat has reshaped how I plan Spain elopements, particularly in southern and inland regions. Midday outdoor ceremonies in July or August in Seville, Granada, or Madrid are now genuinely dangerous and I will not book them. For summer elopements in these areas, I work exclusively with early morning (6–9am) or golden hour (7–9pm) slots. Northern Spain, high altitude locations, and coastal areas remain comfortable throughout the season. If you’re set on summer and southern Spain, I’ll design your day around the heat — not against it.
How to legally get
married in Spain
Spain’s legal framework is genuinely welcoming for international couples, but it does require at least one partner to be a legal resident for a minimum of two years — which means most visiting couples opt for a symbolic ceremony on the day, and handle the legal marriage at home before or after.
For US couples, many states allow your county clerk to authorise a minister to perform a legal ceremony abroad. As a US-ordained minister, I and my team can legally marry you — no separate civil ceremony required. Ask me which states this applies to when you get in touch.
Same-sex marriage has been fully legal in Spain since 2005. There are no restrictions based on gender, religion, nationality, or sexual orientation. All couples are equally welcome.
Visa note: Spain is part of the Schengen Area. Citizens of the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, and most EU countries need only a valid passport for stays up to 90 days. No tourist visa required. I’ll confirm requirements for your specific nationality when we start planning.
-
Choose symbolic vs. legal ceremony
For most international couples, the simplest path is a symbolic ceremony in Spain and legal paperwork at home. I’ll advise based on your nationality.
-
US couples: check your state laws
Some US states allow county clerks to authorise international ceremonies. I’m a US minister and can perform a legally binding ceremony for eligible couples.
-
Gather your documents
Valid passports, birth certificates, and any divorce or death certificates if previously married. I’ll give you a complete checklist once we’ve confirmed your situation.
-
No residency stress for symbolic ceremonies
If you’re doing a symbolic ceremony (the majority of my couples), there are zero residency requirements, zero paperwork in Spain, and zero waiting periods.
-
Officiant & vendor coordination
I work with a curated network of certified officiants across Spain for couples who want a local Spanish legal ceremony. I handle all coordination.
Things to do that will make
your elopement unforgettable
I build full itineraries around your personality. These are my most-loved activity recommendations — with real contact details to book ahead.
Private Flamenco Lesson & Tablao, Seville
Take a private lesson before watching a professional tablao performance at night. The combination is one of the most emotionally charged evenings you’ll spend anywhere in the world.
Hot Air Balloon at Sunrise, Catalonia
Float above ancient castles, monasteries, and vineyards as the sun rises over the Pyrenean foothills. Champagne on landing. I can arrange this as part of your elopement day timeline.
Private Vineyard Tour & Tasting, La Rioja
Explore a historic bodega with your own guide — from barrel cellars to vine-to-glass education — then sit down to a private lunch with regional wines. La Rioja is the most romantic afternoon in Spain.
Private Sailing, The Balearic Sea
Charter a private sailboat for the day — anchor in secret coves, swim in turquoise water, and watch the sun set behind Mallorca’s limestone cliffs with nobody else around.

What to wear for a
Spain elopement
The Dress
You’ll be moving — walking beaches, climbing cliffs, stepping over cobblestones. Light and flowy is practical and beautiful. Tulle and chiffon photograph extraordinarily in wind and golden light. Skip the mermaid silhouette. A flowy bohemian gown or a minimalist slip dress will give you the freedom to fully inhabit your day.
The Shoes
There is something genuinely badass about pairing a wedding gown with hiking boots — and I’ve photographed it dozens of times. For sandy beaches or ancient stone streets, comfortable footwear is non-negotiable. Block heels work on cobblestones. Sandals work on beaches. I’ll always tell you exactly what terrain to expect so you can plan accordingly.
The Suit
In Spain’s heat, three-piece tuxedos are a commitment (and not a wise one in August). Linen is your friend — it photographs beautifully and breathes. Light-coloured linen suits, an open-collar shirt, or a linen blazer over dress trousers all read elegant without turning your partner into a slow cooker. In northern Spain in spring, a classic suit is perfectly comfortable.
Dishes worth
building your day around
Paella Valenciana
Spain’s most celebrated dish, born in Valencia: saffron-perfumed rice with chicken, rabbit, and green beans cooked in a wide flat pan. I always source the most authentic restaurant near your location — never the tourist trap version.
Tortilla Española
Thick, generous, served hot or cold. The Spanish omelette — made with eggs, potatoes, and onions — is the unassuming cornerstone of every tapas bar. It’s the dish I always eat first when I land in Spain.
Gambas al Ajillo
Garlic prawns sizzling in olive oil, served in a clay dish with crusty bread to soak up every drop. This is the dish you eat at a tiny bar counter in Seville at 10pm, with a glass of cold Manzanilla sherry. Don’t skip it.
Eating schedule tip: Spain runs on a different clock. Lunch starts around 2pm and can last until 4pm. Dinner rarely before 9pm. Many shops close from 2–5pm. Embrace it — this is exactly the kind of unhurried pace that makes Spain the perfect elopement destination. I plan all my itineraries around the local rhythm, not against it.
Handpicked hotels
for your Spain journey
I select accommodation for each couple individually — always for character, location, and atmosphere rather than chain loyalty points. These are my standing recommendations.
Puebloastur Eco Resort
Stunning eco-resort in the Asturian hills — sustainable, beautifully designed, and perfectly placed for Lagos de Covadonga and Somiedo. My first choice for northern Spain elopements.
puebloastur.com →Las Casas del Rey de Baeza
An 18th-century convent transformed into a boutique hotel in the historic Santa Cruz neighbourhood. Rooftop pool overlooking Seville’s terracotta rooftops. Exceptional for Andalusian elopements.
hospes.com →Posada del Lucero
A beautiful posada in the old city — characterful, intimate, and within walking distance of flamenco tablaos and tapas bars. Perfect for elopements with a strong sense of place.

Renting a Car
Spain’s road network is excellent and well-maintained. A car gives you access to locations no bus or taxi will reach — and that’s exactly where I want to take you. All major car rental agencies operate at Spanish airports (Avis, Hertz, Europcar, Sixt). International driving licence required for non-EU drivers. Most scenic routes in northern Spain are best driven with your own vehicle.
- Book in advance for summer; prices double in July/August
- Manual transmissions are standard — request automatic if needed
- Toll roads (autopistas) are excellent and worth using between cities
- I’ll provide GPS coordinates to every location — not Google Maps links
Packing for Spain
- Lightweight, breathable clothing for warm regions
- A layer for cool evenings in northern Spain or mountain areas
- Comfortable walking shoes — cobblestone-proof
- Swimsuit + beach cover for coastal and island elopements
- Sun hat, sunglasses, SPF 50+ for any southern Spain date
- One dressier outfit for your elopement dinner
- European Type C / Type F power adapter
- Basic Spanish phrases downloaded offline (Google Translate works well)
Visa Requirements
Spain is in the Schengen Area. Citizens from the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK, and all EU/EEA countries do not need a visa for stays under 90 days — only a valid passport. Other nationalities should check with the Spanish embassy in their country. I’ll confirm your specific situation when we start planning.
Getting Around Spain
Spain’s AVE high-speed rail is world-class and covers Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Valencia, and Málaga in under 3 hours. For remote locations (Asturias, Galicia, Bardenas Reales), a rental car is essential. Within cities, taxis and Uber/Cabify are reliable. I include private driver transfers in all multi-day packages — you’ll never need to navigate on your elopement day.
Eloping with Amber was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we met, we felt like we were simply hanging out with a good friend — laughing, exploring, taking photos that perfectly captured the joy of our day. Every moment felt genuine and full of love. We couldn’t have imagined a more perfect way to begin our journey together.
Everything you’re
wondering about
How far in advance should we book?
I’ve planned elopements 7 days before the date, so I can work with short notice. That said, for popular travel dates (spring and fall), 6–12 months in advance gives us the most flexibility for locations, vendors, and accommodation. Contact me whenever you’re ready — I’ll tell you honestly if your date is still open.
Do you include exact location names publicly?
Never. I follow Leave No Trace principles, which means I don’t publish specific coordinates or location names for sensitive wild areas. When you book with me, you’ll receive a complete itinerary. But I won’t broadcast those spots to the internet — they stay special because we protect them.
We’re not photogenic. Can you still work with us?
This is the question I get most often, and my answer is always the same: genuine emotion is more photogenic than any pose. My entire approach is built around capturing who you actually are — not a version of you performing for a camera. I’ll guide you gently throughout, and you’ll be surprised how natural the photos feel.
How many photos will we receive?
For a 3-day adventure elopement, expect 500–600 photos. For a single day, around 200–300. Every image is professionally edited. You’ll receive a high-resolution gallery with full printing rights within a few weeks of your elopement.
Are there hidden travel fees?
No. My travel costs to anywhere in Spain are included in every package. So is transportation between locations on your elopement day(s), permit acquisition fees, and all planning coordination. What you see is what you pay.
Can you legally marry us in Spain?
I’m a US-ordained minister. For couples from states that allow county clerks to authorise international ceremonies, yes — I can legally marry you in Spain without a separate civil ceremony. For other US states and international couples, I’ll advise on the simplest legal path based on your nationality.
Do you work with LGBTQ+ couples?
Absolutely and wholeheartedly. Spain has been one of the world’s most progressive countries on LGBTQ+ rights since 2005. Every Zephyr & Luna elopement is built around your identity and your love story — no exceptions, no conditions.
How do we start?
Send me a message via my contact page or WhatsApp me directly at +33 6 59 36 17 76. We’ll book a short free discovery call to see if we’re a good match — no commitment required. If the connection is there, we’ll build something extraordinary together.
Your Spain elopement
