The 5 best Maui elopement locations
The Hawaiian island of Maui is an incredible destination, and though it’s best known for the scenic beaches, if you head inland you;ll find stunning mountain ridges and volcanoes! For any couple looking to elope, Maui is the perfect adventure destination. To help you pick the perfect place to tie the knot, here are a few of the best Maui elopement locations, along with some tips for getting married on Maui!
1) The Best Time to Elope on Maui
Before you start planning your amazing elopement in Maui, you’ll need to think about setting a date! While Hawaii is known for being pretty idyllic year round, each season brings something a little different.
Winter on Maui
Winter is the most popular time to visit maui, because so many people are trying to get away from the cold weather in the rest of the northern hemisphere! December is especially popular because of the holidays.
But, this is definitely the best time to elope on Maui if you want to surf – the waves are best in the winter. While it can get crowded in the popular spots, if you find a lesser known place to get married, you’ll have no trouble finding some privacy!
Spring on Maui
Spring is an incredible time for a Maui elopement – after the summer crowds leave, the cost of flights and lodging goes down significantly. You can find the best deals this time of year, and the weather is still warm and sunny!
If you’re interested in the local culture, spring is the best time to visit because there are several festivals happening this time of year.
Summer on Maui
Summer is the second most popular time to visit Maui, especially for families with kids on summer vacation! This is the best time to elope if you want to swim or snorkel – the water is calmer, which isn’t good for surfing, but great for swimmers. It’s pretty warm in the summer, so if you’re hiking, you’ll definitely need some extra water!
Fall on Maui
Along with spring, fall is the best time to elope if you want to experience Maui without as many people around. After the summer crowds celar out, it’s still warm and sunny, though it rains more frequently starting in late October.
The waves pick back up, so conditions are better for surfing than swimming.
2) The 5 Best Maui Elopement Locations
The most exciting thing about eloping is that instead of traditional wedding venues, you get to choose from mountains, waterfalls, and beaches for where you get married! With so many beautiful places, it can definitely be hard to narrow it down – but to help you decide, here are 5 of the best Maui elopement locations.
a- Baldwin Beach
On the north shore of Maui is Baldwin Beach – this spot is one of the best beach elopement lcoaitons, because it’s a little lesser known, and farther away from the resorts! This means it’s more secluded. And of course, it’s incredibly beautiful! The rugged coastline, blue water, and mountains in the distance make a pretty picturesque backdrop for any ceremony.
b- Haleakala National Park
While the beaches are definitely incredible, there’s more to the island beyond the coastline! Another great Maui elopement location is the Haleakala National Park, home to the Haleakala volcano, along with some other stunning peaks. This is one of the best Maui elopement locations for hikers, and you can find some remote views!
c- Twin Falls Waterfall
If you want to get married with a tropical waterfall in the backdrop, this is the perfect spot! It’s a little less popular, and while it requires a hike, the trail isn’t too difficult. The hike is about 2.4 miles, with a few smaller waterfalls around the way that you can see if there has been enough rainfall recently. Once you get to Twin Falls, you can wade in the water and tie the knot under the falls!
d- Pa’iloa Beach
For a beach view a little different than the white sand, tropical ones, you can go to Pa’iloa Beach in Wai’anapanapa State Park! Here, you’ll find a beautiful black sand beach with lava cliffs, contrasting dramatically with the lush green foliage and the bright blue of the ocean.
Nearby, there are two freshwater caves that you can explore, and lots of hiking trails in the park!
e- Kapalua Coastal Trail
This is one of the best Maui elopement locations if you’re looking for an easily accessible trail with beautiful views! You can hike a little over two miles along the beach, or park somewhere along the way and hop out for a gorgeous overlook. This trail is pretty busy, so it’s best for couples who want to elope at sunrise, because there will be less people around and you’ll have an easier time with parking!
