About this Grindelwald elopement
A ceremony above the clouds, surrounded by glaciers and snowVictoria and Tilian came to Grindelwald with one wish: to get married somewhere that felt completely unlike anywhere else. They got it. Their ceremony took place beside a glacial lake, accessible only by gondola, at over 2,000 metres, with the Eiger and Wetterhorn filling the horizon behind them.
This was a fully integrated elopement: every hotel, train, restaurant, celebrant, and permit was arranged in advance. On the day, they showed up. Everything else was handled.
What a 7-day Grindelwald elopement looks like
Every day was built around what the landscape actually offers. Zurich on arrival, then the train south through Interlaken into the valley. Three different mountain elevations across the week. A spa day. An ice cave. Fondue and raclette at the right restaurants. This is what full planning looks like in practice.

Vows beside a glacial lake, at 2,000 metres
After the gondola, a 45-minute hike through snow-dusted alpine paths brought the three of them to a lake that sits frozen well into spring. They walked the shoreline until the right spot appeared: a stretch of open ice with the mountain ridgeline directly behind.
Daniele, their celebrant, conducted the ceremony in English. The vows took about 25 minutes. Nobody else was there. The wind was still.
The couple portraits happened immediately after, while the light was on the mountain and before the cold set in. Those 45 minutes of photography are what the full gallery is built from.

Can we have a legal ceremony in Grindelwald as foreign nationals?

What is the best season for a Grindelwald elopement?
Winter (December to March) gives you snow-covered peaks, near-empty trails, and the full alpine atmosphere you see in these photographs. Summer works well too — the wildflower meadows are stunning — but the high-altitude locations are far more crowded. Shoulder seasons (late October, April) are also excellent for budget and solitude.
What does the photography and planning package include?

Is Grindelwald right for us if we are not hikers?
Yes. The ceremony location for this elopement required a 45-minute flat hike on a maintained path. Most of the photography happened at accessible gondola endpoints. This is not a technical climbing itinerary. The level of physical activity is always discussed and adjusted during planning.
