Iceland — Real Elopement

A Glacier Elopement in Iceland

Anna-Kaye & Andrew chose the ice. A ceremony on a glacier, the wind off the black sand beaches, and every moment fully theirs.

What a glacier elopement in Iceland actually feels like

There is nothing quite like standing on a glacier to say your vows. The silence is total except for the wind and the creak of the ice. Everything feels amplified: the cold, the scale of what surrounds you, and the fact that the two of you chose to be here, together, for this.

Anna-Kaye and Andrew came to Iceland looking for exactly that: a glacier elopement on the East Coast of the island, with the kind of raw landscape that makes every photo feel almost too good to be real. Over eight hours, we moved from a glacier ceremony through volcanic river crossings to a black sand beach as the sun dropped toward the horizon. Six guests, no fuss, nothing scripted.

This page shows you what that day looked like from the inside: the full itinerary, the images in the order they were taken, and everything that made it work. If you are dreaming of a glacier elopement of your own, everything you need to start planning is at the bottom of the page.

Getting ready for a glacier elopement in Iceland

The morning before their glacier ceremony

A glacier elopement starts long before you set foot on the ice. For Anna-Kaye and Andrew, the morning was calm and deliberately unhurried. Details came out, the light came in through the windows, and everything clicked into place before anyone had to rush.

One of the things that makes eloping in Iceland so different from a conventional wedding is that the whole day feels like yours. No timeline to keep up with, no 150 guests waiting. Just the two of you, a small circle of people you love, and the landscape ahead.

Saying your vows on the glacier

The glacier is the centrepiece of a glacier elopement for a reason. Standing on the ice with the blue-white expanse behind you, the scale of Iceland makes every word feel heavier and truer. Anna-Kaye and Andrew took their time. The backdrop was so extraordinary that we stayed longer than planned, and nobody minded at all.

The light on a glacier changes constantly. Sharp and cold in one direction, soft and almost warm in another. For photography, it is one of the most rewarding places in Iceland to work. Every shift in the cloud cover produces something different.

Black sand, wind, and the end of the day

From the glacier, we drove south to the black sand beaches of the East Coast. The contrast is one of the defining visual qualities of this glacier elopement itinerary: white ice in the morning, volcanic black sand in the afternoon. The wind was strong and the light was dropping, which made the photos everything you’d hope for.

They walked together on the beach for the last set of portraits as the sun reached the horizon. That is the kind of ending a day in Iceland earns you.

She was always available to provide assistance and answer any questions we had. She was very professional and provided answers and solutions to all the vendors we chose. She follows up constantly and is eager to please her clients. I had no complaints and was fully satisfied.
